What did you learn in 2019?

Be objective. Take the big view. On a scale of 1—10, how do you rate 2019? What would you say about it in a review ? Highlight a minimum of three learning points that need attention and action.

Did you spot any trends?

The digital world is dynamic —an evolving mix of communications and technology. Being able to pinpoint buyer trends and behaviours is vital to the success of your strategy.

Self-insight is an equally important skill. It allows you to identify your own trends—in your actions, reactions and the results these generated—or didn’t. Look for patterns—pull them apart and learn from them.

What worked, what didn’t—and WHY?

If everything went well—fantastic! What did you do to make this happen? Are there any tweaks to bring in even better results? Give the same treatment to the areas that didn’t work so well. Was it over-forecasting or bad timing? Or something else altogether.

Review your content and resources. Did they measure up? Be thorough. Get to the root of the problem and be in a position to make the changes that will deliver better results.

What needs to be done differently?

Ah, the benefit of hindsight... Can you see what you would change this time around? And where?  Everyone makes mistakes. Successful people are the ones who learn from them and make the changes. Winkle out your failures and work out how to do things better.

Are there obvious areas for growth?

Isolate the prime growth areas and plot how to make the most of them. Set SMART goals. Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Timely. Make sure they have their roots in numbers.
